To mark the release of our new Generations Infographic, today we take stock of the amount of time these age groups are spending online on a mobile.

As our chart shows, generational differences are profound for this metric. Although Millennials tend to spend the longest time online across most devices, it’s for mobiles where they really forge ahead of the older generations – clocking up a daily average of over 3 hours.

With the older generations having stronger attachments to more “traditional” devices like PCs/laptops, as well as a greater fondness for tablets, they lag considerably behind for time spent on mobile. In fact, each day sees Millennials online on a mobile for over 4x as long as Boomers – offering further confirmation that Millennials really are the Mobile-First generation.
