For this week’s final blog post, we examine data from our new trend report on Location-Based Dating Apps.

GWI’s research show that the numbers visiting dating sites have flat-lined over the past two years. In this context, the rise of location-based dating apps has been seen as a shot in the arm for the industry.

But dating apps still have some way to go: only 6% of internet users are currently accessing them monthly.

It’s perhaps no surprise that 16-34s are the most enthusiastic users of location-based dating apps, making up two thirds of their audience. Users are also overwhelmingly urban (with three quarters living in cities) while, in terms of gender, there’s a clear skew towards males (who account for 60% of the audience).
