As WhatsApp begins extending support for its web client to iOS, Thursday’s chart looks at which OS are most popular among WhatsApp’s user base.

Android is the clear leader here. Helped by WhatsApp’s popularity in fast-growth markets (where Android tends to post its best figures), Google’s OS can claim that 3 in 4 WhatsAppers are Android users.

However, there is still an important section of the WhatsApp community that are using iPhones, with just over a fifth using iOS. And in the UK/US, this figure rises to 45%. For many of these Apple owners, iOS support for the WhatsApp web client is long overdue.
